Suckler cow management, in particular relating to fertility is crucial.

There are 3 main ways that Severn Edge Farm will support you improving suckler cow productivity:

• Increase conception rates
• Reduce the interval between calving and conception
• Reduce calf mortality

Tight calving patterns are essential to properly manage the suckler herd and maximize calf health, our vets are on hand to offer advice and support to help you achieve a tight pattern. Where scans and conception rates are low we are able to investigate possible diseases affecting fertility, as well as management advice. As with the Dairy Work fertility is monitored by ultrasound scanning and we are happy to do small herds to blocks calvers at large commercial units. 

At Severn Edge Farm we cannot stress the importance of bull fertility. We are able to do on farm testing, which takes around 30 minutes per bull, to ensure they are fit before the breeding season.

We provide management advice to fattening units, in particular in relation to prevention of pneumonia including vaccination protocols. From our dispensary in Bridgnorth we are able to offer a full range of competitively priced vaccines to support your herd.

Calf health is another vital element of work in the beef herd, again disease investigation and management advice is provided. We have a team of Vet Techs at Severn Edge Farm who are there to support all our clients. With beef clients they are able to come and vaccinate, weigh calves, take scour samples and offer disbudding services.
