PIGEON LOFT WORK

At Severn Edge Farm Vets we regularly work with multiple different avian species including backyard poultry, game birds and now pigeons. Our vets Chris and Susan regularly attend the marking station at Alveley for the National Flying Club during the racing season to assist in getting birds across the channel ready to race.

As of 2024 they are now also available to visit and provide loft attestations – a necessary document if you wish to race pigeons overseas. It involves a visit to examine the loft and check over some paperwork (don’t worry we are happy to help you this sorted) – these visits need to take place yearly. We are able to offer a discount if multiple local lofts can be checked over on the same day – please get in touch to register your loft.

FISHING ROD DISINFECTING

We are able to offer disinfecting fishing gear at our practice Bridgnorth for anglers looking to travel to Europe.  Iceland has always been free of diseases like UDN and Gyrodactylus salaris and they very much intend to keep it that way. There is a strict policy for visiting anglers, and they must have their tackle sterilized before coming to Iceland.

This is done in a 2% formaldehyde solution for 10 minutes and performed by one of our veterinary surgeons. (Tackle sterilized in Virkon S is also acceptable.) A signed inventory of what has been sterilized will be provided by the vet for presentation to the customs officers at Keflavik airport.

The most important items to be treated are: rods, reel/line, waders and flies. Call us today for pricing and to book. 

EXPORT CERTIFICATION

We provide export certification (EC) and export health certification (EHC) for farmers and companies throughout the Midlands. We are registered with the government Animal & Plant Health Agency.

We have veterinary surgeons that hold the following export panels:

• ES – Essential Skills.
• EX – Exports General.
• PX – Product Exports

We are able to inspect and authorise:

• Products of animal origin (food for human consumption, animal by-products).
