Schmallenberg Virus (SBV) has reared its head again this lambing season – we have now had numerous reports of affected lambs from our
early lambing flocks and multiple confirmed diagnoses following testing, Susan Carr BVetMed MRCVS explains more. APHA are again
offering free testing for SBV and we would encourage anyone who suspects they have affected animals to talk us about submitting
samples. The more we test the more we know about the disease. As it presents in the same way as both Bluetongue Virus (BTV) and
BVD/Border Disease it is important for us to confirm what exactly is going on.
